27th March 2008

Twenty-two Mongolian lecturers from the Mongolian University of Science and Technology, who were learning English at the Limkokwing University’s language centre – the International House Malaysia (IH), successfully completed their month-long course on March 25 2008.
A luncheon was held at the campus’ One World Club to commemorate the completion of the course where Limkokwing University’s Vice President International Development Associate Professor Dr Jayles Yeoh presented the students with certificates.
In his speech, Dr Yeoh commended all the students on their success and thanked them for spending their time at Limkokwing.
He hoped some of the participants will be able to spend another two weeks for an advanced class to be held in Limkokwing London in July.
Dr Yeoh also announced that Limkokwing University President Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato Dr Lim Kok Wing is expected to visit the Mongolian University of Science and Technology sometimes in May or June this year.
Representing the students, MUST’s Professor of Industrial Design Development D. Tsolmonbaatar, thanked the University for having them here.
He said to be part of this global university is a dream come true for all of them.
He added that studying at Limkokwing’s Cyberjaya campus has been beneficial for them. They found the environment at the campus to be conducive for learning. They especially found the diversity in cultures to be comforting.
MUST’s law lecturer Batsaikhan Avirmed said that he is very happy for having completed the course.
“It’s really an eye-opener and the lecturers are very helpful and friendly,” he added.
He also enjoyed the “electric’ atmosphere at the university where students from various backgrounds and nationals are seen to study and live together in harmony.
“I will cherish this experience for a long time to come,” he explained.
Tsas-Orgilmaa, who is a highway design lecturer at the university, praised the English course content and structure.
“The classes are very well organised. However, I do feel that one month is a bit too short for us,” she said.
Senior lecturer at the Computer Science and Management Faculty Monkhbayar B. agreed that the duration of the course is rather short.
“But it was still an interesting experience for us all,” he added, explaining that most of the lecturers would also like to come back again to Malaysia for a holiday.
During their four-week intensive language course, the Mongolian students were assigned to the Elementary and Pre-Intermediate level accordingly to their knowledge of the language.
This is the third group of MUST lecturers that is attending the programme.
Prior to attending English classes at IH, the Mongolians had little or limited knowledge of the language and were not confident speaking English and found learning the language hard.
The Mongolian students found Malaysia to be an interesting country rich with its own cultural and historical diversity.
